DC MEDISCAN´ s Osteocentre deals with the issues (diagnostics and treatment) of metabolic osseous diseases, especially osteoporosis.
The medical centre performs densitometric testing for specialised out-and in-patient facilities established in Prague and outside of Prague as a service for doctors engaged in this field.
Densitometry is also linked with the MEDISCAN osseous disease advisory centre for patient with diagnosed osteoporosis or other metabolic osseous diseases, who have been given recommendation for further diagnostics and treatment. Densitometric testing takes approximately 15 minutes.
The Osteocentre facility is equipped with densitometric machine DXA LUNAR Prodigy. Densitometric machine DXA (dual energy photon X-ray absorpciometry) is a precise method of measuring bone mineral density in the lumbar spine, proximal part of femur, including its collum, forearm or the whole body. These values have relations to the risk of fractures and using these values the osteoporosis can be defined in compliance with the World Health Organisation standards.
Further, the proportion of body tissues – adipose, osseous and other tissues (non-standard method serving to research purposes).
The densitometric facility belongs among medical centres with the highest number of densitometric tests performed in CR. The densitometric machine is monitored and checked by global organisations SYNARC and Bioimaging.
